Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I get started to provide the PREP curriculum to the youth I work with once I have been trained?
Begin by completing the Request to Begin Classes with Youth located at http://cantonhealth.org/nursing/?pg=347. You can also contact Molly Malloy, RN at Canton City Public Health at (330) 489-3322 or
    for assistance.

  2. How will I get the youth materials, including entry surveys, exit surveys, student manuals and Reducing the Risk (RTR) kit?
Once you have completed the Request to Begin Classes, you will be contacted by a PREP Master Trainer from Canton City Public Health to set up a time and date to have the youth materials delivered to you and reviewed. The RTR kit would have been distributed to you or a co-worker at your agency after you had completed the PREP training workshop.

  3. Can I add my own views or other materials during sessions with youth that are not in the RTR kit and instructor manual?
No. Fidelity to the PREP curriculum and the RTR materials must be maintained. Your views and additional materials are not to be added.

  4. Can I move the sessions around?  For example, can I start with the financial section?
No. The sessions must be completed in a sequential order beginning with session one and ending with session 20. This order will maintain fidelity to the PREP curriculum.

  5. What do I do if I have questions while providing the PREP curriculum to the youth?
Each newly trained facilitator must be co-facilitated (i.e. observed) by a Master Trainer for sessions 1, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 20 in order to assist you and answer questions while observing these sessions. Additional background materials are located on the http://cantonhealth.org/nursing/?prep website and in your instructor manual. Training materials can be accessed from the jump drive provided to you after your PREP training. You can call Master Trainer Molly Malloy, RN or Frank Catrone, RN at Canton City Public Health at (330) 489-3322 for guidance and assistance.

  6. What do I do with the youth entry and exit surveys, fidelity sheets and attendance sheet once I complete the PREP curriculum with the youth?
All materials will be collected by the Master Trainer after you have completed the PREP curriculum with the youth. Do not shred or throw away any of the surveys or materials even if the youth did not complete all of the sessions. It is important all documents remain together as the information will still be gathered for data purposes.

If you have additional questions, contact Molly Malloy, RN at (330) 489-3322 or .
