Temporary Food License

A temporary food license may only be obtained for a City of Canton approved event where foods are being prepared or served for a charge or required donation. Only ten temporary licenses are permitted to be taken out by one person or group per year. 

How to Obtain a Temporary Food License

1. An APPROVED list of vendors and contact information MUST be provided by the event sponsor.
2. Once the list has been provided, all vendors will be contacted by email with a temporary questionnaire.
3. The questionnaire MUST be turned in AT LEAST 10 DAYS prior to the event.
4. Once the questionnaire has been received, all vendors will be required to answer any remaining questions by email.
5. Once the questionnaire has been approved, the vendor is permitted to come in to pay.
6. The application will be provided at the time of payment. The payment must be received AT LEAST 2 DAYS prior to the event. If the event falls on a weekend day, the payment must be received by the THURSDAY prior.
7. The 2024-2025 temporary food license fee (PDF) is $125.00 per event.

Where can I prepare food for the event?

  • Food can ONLY be prepared onsite at the time of the event or at a licensed food facility. Contact information and proof of food license must be provided.

Can I store food at home prior to the event?

  • No. Food MUST be bought the day of the event or stored at a licensed food facility. Contact information and proof of food license must be provided.
