How to Become a PREP Provider

Ohio PREP utilizes a train the trainer model. The training is appropriate for staff that provides direct programming (groups etc.) or engages in instructive programming to youth ages 14-21 in their care. The training provided by Trainers from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, OhioGuidestone and Canton City Public Health will focus efforts on educating and preparing direct-care staff of foster care and justice involved youth, to provide the evidence-based curriculum and adulthood topics with the skills to present the information clearly, respond to youth questions and guide the program to reinforce learning. The direct-care staff will instruct the youth in the PREP curriculum once they are trained. The direct-care staff will be observed by the Trainers the first time they provide designated sessions to the youth. The Trainers will be available to assist with questions that may arise and to be assured that fidelity is being maintained throughout the curriculum.
