Stark County Public Health Study Commission

The purpose of the Stark County Public Health Study Commission is to determine both the feasibility and the desirability of combining the Canton City Health Department and the Stark County Health Department. If it is both feasable and desirable to combine these two departments, the the commission will develop a road map to implement the combination considering the following elements:

  • Governance
  • Organizational structure and staffing
  • Program capacity
  • Facilities and service areas
  • Sustainable funding
  • Legal issues
  • Implementation timeline

PHASE ONE PROJECT REPORT

The Stark County Public Health Study Commission (Commission) pleased to release the phase one project report. This report provides and analysis of the fiscal positions of the Stark County and Canton City Health departments from 2009 to 2012. It also provides a projected analysis of a combined budget and recommendations for future study. A copy of the report may be found at this link.

Final Project Report

The Stark County Public Health Study Commission has released its final report on February 24, 2014. The commission has concluded that it is not desirable to combine the Canton City Health Department and the Stark County Health Department at this time.
